THE QUEENDOM

The Queendom of Nyx is a Hybrid Monarchy where the Crown holds supreme authority, guided by noble counsel and citizen voices united in the Royal Court.

Provinces

Provinces are the highest administrative divisions of the Queendom of Nyx, created and established by the Monarch. Each Province is governed by a Governor, appointed by the Monarch and removable only by Her Majesty, with consideration of the popular opinion of the Province’s people. Provinces are defined as masses of land designated and bordered by the Monarch to centralize the Nyxian populace into organized regions.

Townships

Townships are the second tier of Nyxian governance, created and established by the Monarch. They exist below Provinces and above Cities in the administrative hierarchy. Each Township is governed by a Commissioner, appointed by the Monarch and removable only by Her Majesty, with consideration of the popular opinion of the Township’s inhabitants. Townships are defined as distinct sections of land within a Province, designed to organize communities into manageable jurisdictions.

Territories

Territories are the third tier of Nyxian governance, established directly by the Monarch. They are newly acquired lands not yet designated as Provinces or otherwise assigned permanent status. Within a Territory, the Monarch holds full authority over governance and administration, exercising direct rule until a long-term arrangement is chosen. In exceptional cases, Territories may also result from another nation choosing peaceful annexation into the Queendom of Nyx, in which case the terms of annexation may define specific rights or arrangements under the Monarch’s discretion.

Cities

Cities are the lowest tier of Nyxian governance. They are created and established by the people, but require the approval of the Monarch to be formally recognized. Each City is governed by a Mayor, appointed by the Monarch and removable either by the Monarch or by the will of the people through popular opinion. The people of Nyx may freely choose the name of their City, provided it is appropriate for all audiences and respectful of Nyxian values. Cities serve as the foundation of community life within Provinces and Townships, embodying the self-expression and dedication of the Nyxian people.

The Royal Court of the Queendom of Nyx

The Royal Court is the supreme governing body of the Queendom of Nyx. All legislative, executive, and judicial powers are united here under the authority of Her Majesty Queen Breckingridge I, reflecting Nyx’s unique system as a Hybrid Monarchy. While the Queen alone holds the power to enact Royal Decrees and amend the Constitution, the Royal Court is composed of distinct offices and councils that support, advise, and carry out Her will. These roles reflect the functions of traditional government branches but exist within a single body — the Supremacy Branch of Government.

Roles Within the Royal Court

The Queen

  • Sovereign and Head of State and Government.
  • Sole lawmaker, enacting Royal Decrees and constitutional amendments.
  • Presides over the Royal Court and the Nocturnal Parliament.
  • Approve the minting of the Nyxian Drachman Coins.

  • Chief officer of administration.
  • Executes the Queen’s will in matters of governance and state affairs.

  • Assists the Prime Minister and may act in their stead if absent or incapacitated.
  • Represents the voice of the citizens within the Supremacy Branch.

The Nocturnal Parliament

  • An advisory council composed of Nobility, Ministers of Themis Court, and senior officers.
  • May debate, deliberate, and propose measures, but all require Royal Assent to take effect.
  • Symbolizes the unity of the nobility and people under the Crown.

The Court of Themis

  • Exercises judicial functions delegated by the Queen.
  • Reviews grievances, disputes, and advises on matters of justice.
  • Always subject to the Crown’s supreme authority.

The Chief Constable

  • Elected by the people of Nyx.
  • Head of the National Constables Bureau.
  • Oversees security and law enforcement.
  • Commands constables throughout Provinces, Townships, Territories, and Cities.
  • Ensures public order in service to the Queen.

Why the merging and establishment of the Royal Court Matters?

As of 2024, we, together as a community, believed that by merging the roles of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches into one Supremacy Branch, the Royal Court ensures that Nyx remains stable, efficient, and united under the Crown. The Queen’s supremacy is balanced by advisory councils and elected voices, creating a hybrid system that respects monarchy, nobility, and the will of the people.

"Jealousy is the foundation of equality, but not of liberty; putting man constantly on his guard against the encroachments of his neighbors. It prevents affability between different classes. There is no society without affection, without tradition, without respect, without mutual amenity." ―Ernest Renan
