COAT OF ARMS

The Queendom of Nyx's coat of arms features symbols of Revolution, Royalty, Creation, Freedom, spirituality, and Intellect alongside the national motto: Ave Rex, Vivat Regnum (Latin for "Hail the Monarch, Long live the Queendom").

Silver Crown: As a symbol of royalty to show that the Queendom of Nyx has a monarchy that rules it. The silver color represents the Greek goddess Nyx, after whom the Queendom is named.

Sword: The sword represents honor and intellect within the Queendom of Nyx, showing that everyone has a unique skill that will benefit the Queendom.

Axe: The Axe represents creation. The Queendom of Nyx was a creative project that grew into a community, and as it grows, more creativity is added to the community, making the Queendom of Nyx the way it is today.

Caucasian Eagle: The Caucasian Eagle of Greek mythology, decreed by Queen Breckingridge I as Nyx’s national animal and bird, symbolizes strength, vigilance, and resilience. Rooted in the ancient myths that inspire the Queendom, the eagle represents the enduring sovereignty of the Crown and the unyielding spirit of the Nyxian people.

Black Roses: In the Middle Ages, black roses were a sign of unrest or revolt during hard times, which perfectly fits that the country we are detaching from is putting us through hard times, so we are peacefully revolting by starting the Queendom.

The First National Flag of the Queendom of Nyx (2017–2018)

The original flag of the Queendom of Nyx, adopted in 2017 and retired in 2018, was a vertical tricolor composed of orange (top), red (center), and light green (bottom). At its center was an early version of the Nyxian coat of arms, featuring a gold crown and a cardinal as the national bird. At this early stage, the symbolism of Nyx was still forming, and the flag reflected a youthful, experimental phase in the nation’s identity. The colors were bright and vibrant, representing energy, growth, and emergence rather than a fully developed cultural vision. As Nyx matured, the Royal Family—particularly Queen Breckingridge I—determined that the flag no longer reflected the nation's deeper, darker, and more refined character. The brightness of the colors was seen as inconsistent with Nyx’s evolving identity, which draws inspiration from night, sovereignty, dignity, and restraint. As a result, the flag was replaced in 2018 with a darker-toned design featuring royal blue and silver, along with a more complete coat of arms that better represents the Queendom’s values, mythology, and long-term vision. The original tricolor flag remains an important part of Nyxian history, symbolizing the foundational era of the Queendom and the beginning of its journey toward a more defined national identity.

Citizenry Flag of the Queendom of Nyx

Purpose & Distinction

The Citizenry Flag of the Queendom of Nyx is designed to represent the people of Nyx, distinct from the official government standard, while remaining closely tied to national identity. It shares the same base design as the national flag to emphasize unity between state and citizen, while incorporating an additional emblem in the upper-left canton to signify civic participation. This flag is intended for private display by citizens, community gatherings, and cultural representation, rather than formal state or diplomatic use.

The Nyx Symbol (Upper-Left Emblem)

The symbol placed in the upper-left corner is an original design, hand-drawn and derived from Greek mythological symbolism associated with the goddess Nyx. It consists of:

  • A central circle, symbolizing eternity and the cosmic void.

  • A star motif, representing guidance, knowledge, and vigilance.

  • Two outward-facing crescents, symbolizing night, balance, and transition.

This symbol is not religious, not occult, and not associated with Wicca or modern spiritual movements. While some viewers have interpreted the star element as a pentagram, its inclusion here is symbolic and cultural, rooted in classical and mythological imagery rather than ritual or belief. Nyx, as a nation, draws inspiration from Greek mythology as cultural heritage, not as a system of worship.
